Online Guide to Meeting Assignments
Call To Order
| Purpose |
To give you experience in controlling people and calling a meeting to order. |
Before the meeting begins |
Check the agenda for the meeting start time, and the start time and duration for any breaks in the meeting. |
Familiarise yourself with the locations of the rest rooms and the exits.
What to do during your assignment |
Just before starting time, use the gavel on the lectern to get people’s attention. In a clear voice give a 3 minute warning to get the people seated for a prompt start (E.g. Ladies and Gentlemen, the meeting will commence in 3 minutes, please make your way to your seats). |
30
seconds prior to the start time use the gavel to again call the meeting
to order. Ask everyone to be seated, remain in control until everyone is
seated. |
Once you have
control, ask the audience to turn off their mobile phones, indicate
where the exits & the toilets are and mention when there will be any
breaks through the meeting. Add a few words of welcome and conclude by
introducing the Chairman and by handing the gavel to him/her. |
That
is the end of your assignment. You will be evaluated by the General
Evaluator. |
